Indian equity markets traded flat after Thursday’s sell-off while global markets continued to reel under selling pressure on concern the Federal Reserve will reduce stimulus and China’s economic slowdown may deepen as a cash crunch worsens.    

In such a gloom and doom scenario, will banking stocks offer some respite to the investors?

Smartinvestor : Do you foresee further downside in our markets from the levels of 5,630 going ahead?

Mohit Gaba : It is possible as there is no sign of strength so far, I feel most of the falling has been done and we might fall another 2 - 5% on the Index. I feel now is a good time to start buying form a long term perspective, but buying large cap good quality stocks which have less or no debt
 

Smartinvestor : Will there be a dead-cat bounce in near term?

Mohit Gaba : its difficult to say when, we could have one today given it a Friday.

Smartinvestor : Banking stocks crashed in this global sell-off. Do you think this is the right time to BUY any of the counters here?
