Zinc edges higher on global cues

September contract up 0.44%

Zinc prices edged up by 0.44% to Rs 102.60 per kg in futures trade today after speculators enlarged positions, driven by a firming trend in the global markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September up by 45 paise, or 0.44%, to Rs 102.60 per kg, with a turnover of 585.

October zinc moved up by 40 paise, to Rs 103.55 per kg, with a business volume of 11 lots.

Marketmen said metal's strength at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on speculation that China, the world's largest user, and US will bring stimulus policies, raised demand outlook, pushing up zinc futures prices here.
