Aasra Home case: Medical board constituted for investigation

A medical board was constituted on Sunday to investigate the death of two women at the state-run 'Home'.

The District Magistrate and Senior of Police also reached station to question the five people who were detained in connection with the death of the women.

Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that two women from a shelter home in Patna's died during treatment at Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), but neither the police nor the Social Welfare Department was informed of the same.

District Magistrate, Kumar Ravi, said that the prima facie of the incident revealed that the women had 'fever and diarrhea', but were brought dead to the hospital.

"As per prima facie, the women seemed to have fever and diarrhea. Further details will be revealed after a medical report comes. The matter is being investigated. We'll also look at their medical history and postmortem reports," Kumar told reporters here.

He further informed that a request has been made for a second post-mortem.

"People in the organisation are being questioned; action will be taken against those at fault," he added.
