Afghanistan has reportedly summoned a senior Pakistani diplomat to register protest over remarks made by the Punjabi Taliban leader, in which he said that the group has stopped all terror activities in Pakistan but will continue operations in Afghanistan.
The Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan said on Monday that the Pakistani Charge d'Affaires Syed Muazzam Shah was summoned by the ministry to lodge strong protest over the declaration of war by Punjab Taliban on the Afghan side of the Durand Line, reported The Express Tribune.
Punjabi Taliban leader, Asmatullah Muaweya, said in a video message that the group has renounced violence in Pakistan and will now focus on Afghanistan. He also added that his group's activities in Pakistan will be restricted only to preaching.
Condemning the threats made by Muaweya, Abdul Samad Samad, head of political affairs in the Afghan foreign ministry, described his statement as a clear conspiracy against the stability and security in Afghanistan.
