A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Porbandar, Vitthal Radadiya has gifted property worth Rs 100 crore for the remarriage of his daughter-in-law in Jam Kandorana village in Gujarat.
Vitthal Radadiya, whose son Kalpesh Radadiya died of cardiac arrest seven months ago, is also a farmers' leader. Kalpesh is survived by his wife Manisha and two children.
After his son's sudden demise, Radadiya wanted to get his daughter-in-law remarried as he wanted her to make a new start.
"It was a really very tough decision, but all the family members decided to get Manisha re-married with a person who is very near and dear to us. We have divided our property between all five sons including the property that belongs to Manisha and her two children," Radadiya said.
Manisha's wedding with Hardik Chowatiya, a friend of Vitthal Radadiya's son Lalit, took place in Jamkandorna town of Rajkot district.

The wedding itself was a simple affair attended by a few close family members. While people appreciated Radadiya's bold move, the overall ambience seemed unusually dismal.
Jayesh Radadiya, one of Vithal Radadiya's five sons and a minister for tourism in Gujarat government, congratulated his father for making such a bold decision.
"My father has set an example for the society by re-marrying my brother's wife. It was tough but we all decided that Manisha and her children's lives should not be disrupted. We are giving property worth Rs 100 crore to my borther's wife as 'Kanyadaan'" he added.
Manisha's father was also present on the occasion and seemed pleased with the remarriage.
"A few months ago, we lost our daughter's husband but Vithal Bhai took the decision of her remarriage and we all feel happy and congratulate him for making such a brave decision," he said.
