Australian Test bowler Peter Siddle has promised to save the piglet that was smuggled into the Gabba last week during the first Ashes Test.

According to News.com.au, Siddle and his partner, Anna Weatherlake, are vegans and passionate animal welfare advocates and were saddened by the news.

Siddle told Cricket Australia that he was disappointed to hear about the pig, adding that he and his wife do a lot of work for Animals Australia and Edgar's Mission, which is a farm sanctuary for animals.

He added that they are actually thinking of trying to adopt the pig down to Edgar's Mission and get it out on the farm.

Siddle and Weatherlake, who live in Melbourne with their numerous pets, don't have enough room to bring the pig into their home, the report said.
