Brathwaite's ton steadies Windies against England at stumps on day four of second Test

West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite produced a resolute performance on the fourth day of the second Test against England as he anchored his team to a comfortable 202-2 at stumps on a very flat pitch in Grenada.

Following the early dismissal of Devon Smith (2), Brathwaite put on a 142-run stand for the second wicket with Darren Bravo to help respond very strongly to a deficit of 165.

Bravo made 69 before he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler off Stuart Broad delivery, while Brathwaite (101) and Marlon Samuels (22) remained unbeaten to give a 37-run lead to the home side.

 

Reflecting on the current status of the game, Joe Root said that they would chase anything, insisting that they just need enough time and have a really good session with the ball in the morning., the BBC reported.

Root also said that West Indies need a lot of credit for the way they played as they were under quite a bit of pressure with lead England had, but they have got themselves back in the game.

Resuming at the overnight position of 373-6, England were bundled out for 464 as Root accumulated most of the runs to remain unbeaten on 182.

Devendra Bishoo scalped two more wickets to return the figures of 4-177 by dismissing Buttler and Broad.
