Spanish tennis maestro Rafael Nadal continued his perfect start to the European clay-court season as he displayed a superior performance to advance to the third round of the Madrid Masters here on Tuesday.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion, who is eyeing his fifth title in Madrid, recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win over his Russian opponent Andrey Kuznetsov in the second round, Sport24 reported.
Nadal endured a modest season after struggling with injuries last year. However, the Spaniard has gained some momentum with back-to-back wins at clay courts- Monte Carlo and Barcelona.
