Australian captain Michael Clarke has said he believes that he has the energy and stamina to play three more Ashes series over the next five years despite his degenerative back problem.
Clarke will start his sixth Ashes series on November 21, but with the back problem certain to return at some point and his captaincy the subject of a media debate, there has been speculation he might soon call time on his Test career.
According to Sport24, however, Clarke dismissed the idea of being driven into retirement by his back problem and said that as long as he is performing, he still can play for a 'good' four or five years, including in the Ashes series held at that time.
Clarke further said that he feels as fit and healthy as he has been in the past, adding that his love and drive to have success and be a part of the Australian team and the domestic New South Wales (NSW) team is as strong as ever.
The report mentioned that there has been little wrong with his performances with the bat in the two years since Clarke took up the captaincy.
