Demi Lovato names 'brave' gay granddad as inspiration to fight for gay rights

Demi Lovato has revealed that her gay grandfather's spirit is her inspiration to fight for gay rights.

Describing her "brave" granddad, who came out in the sixties, as a "trailblazer", the 'Skyscraper' star said that her inspiration to fight for the cause comes from him, and she wishes that he was alive to see all the progress that has been made, the Mirror reported.

The 21-year-old musician is a keen supporter and campaigner for LGBT rights was recently named the grand marshal of Los Angeles' gay pride and will be seen performing at the upcoming New York's gay pride festivities.
