Equity markets remain shut due to Mahashivratri

Indian equity markets remained shut on Monday on account of Mahashivratri, the Hindu festival celebrated once a year in the honour of Lord Shiva.
However, Asian shares moved up amid signals that the United States and China were close to striking a pact on ending their long-standing trade tariff disputes.
Reports said Washington could remove most of its tariffs on Beijing. Also, a summit between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to sign a final trade deal may take place later this month.
