Ex-Proteas quick Fanie de Villiers 'in trouble' over comment on 'hairy armpits of Portuguese women'

Former South African fast bowler Fanie de Villiers may reportedly be in trouble after he made a rude comment about the hairy armpits of Portuguese women.

While commentating for Proteas TV channel SuperSport on the first Test between South African and India at the Wanderers over the weekend, De Villiers said that 'one would only see black under the arms of women if the match was in Portugal' when the video footage of two female fans with their arms raised was displayed on Friday.

According to Sport24, a SuperSport spokesperson said that they are aware of the 'offensive' comments made by De Villiers and apologised for them, adding that they are taking the matter seriously and disciplinary action could be taken against De Villiers.

 

Meanwhile, De Villiers said that he did not mean for the comments to be offensive.
