Gas leak at ONGC oil well in Mumbai, workers safe

No casualty has been reported from the gas leak which occurred yesterday on an offshore oil rig, Sagar Uday, at Bombay High area.

The rig is one of many operated by the state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in the Bombay High area.

According to reports indicate that immediately after the leak, drilling operations were stopped and experts called in to control the gas flow.

Media reports quoted Navy sources saying that one ship each of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard were moved towards the ONGC platform, in case the situation deteriorated. They added that two helicopters were also kept on standby.
