Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Goa should expect heavy rains: Met Department

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, western Madhya Pradesh and Goa in the next couple of days.

An IMD statement said that with the southwest monsoon still remaining vigorous over West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha and active over Marathwada and Telangana, these regions could expect "extremely" heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It said that heavy rains are also expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam and Meghalaya, East Rajasthan, coastal Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during this period.
