Gunmen kill ex-Hyderabad jail superintendent in Karachi

Gunmen opened fire on the car of the former jail superintendent of Hyderabad Police here on Friday, killing him instantly.

Police here said that Aijaz Haider was killed near the Pehlwan Goth area of the city.

The Dawn said, Haider's wife, who was travelling with him, sustained injuries in the attack and has been admitted to Dar-us-Sehat Hospital.

Condemning the tragedy, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has extended his condolences to the bereaved family and directed law enforcement agencies to beef up security in Karachi.
