LS Polls: Amarinder denies talks of alliance with AAP in Punjab

on Tuesday ruled out an alliance with the (AAP) in for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, asserting that the will go solo in the polls.

"Nothing at all (on alliance with in Punjab). We have no alliance with (convener) or with anybody. We will contest on our own and win," he told media here.

Responding to Kejriwal's statement that talks for an alliance in were in progress, the said though he was not aware of such a statement, the did not need any allies in Punjab.

Exuding confidence about the Congress' prospects in the parliamentary elections, Singh said the party was gung-ho about these polls, as was evident from the fact that it had chosen - the home turf of - for the CWC meeting.

"This clearly showed the level of enthusiasm in the party, which was literally ready to take the BJP by its horns," he added.

In response to a question on the Punjab candidates, he said that the next meeting is likely to be held in around the end of this week.

"There was no hurry," he said, pointing out that the polling date was more than two months away, giving the party lot of time to select its candidates.

The state will go for polls on May 19, and counting of votes will take place on May 23.
