Two people were arrested by police in possession with 10 kg of opium (locally known as Kani) from an area in Manipur's Kumbi.
The accused identified as Md. Riyas Khan and Jamkholet Khongsai were arrested on Saturday. The police has also recovered a scooty and a mobile phone from them.
In a statement, police said, "On November 9 at about 4 pm, a police team arrested one accused Md. Riyas Khan near Borayangbi Thoubal Leikai with 10 kgs of Opium, (locally known as Kani). A scooty and a mobile handset were also seized."
"On follow-up action, the accused Khongsai was also arrested," the police said.
A case has been registered at Kumbi Police station in this regard for investigation.
