Newcastle United offered cut-price deal for Anzhi's 'highest-paid footballer' Samuel Eto'O

Premier League club Newcastle United have been offered a cut-price deal for Samuel Eto'o to get him to St. James Park as Russian club Anzhi try to offload the world's highest-paid footballer.
According to metro.co.uk, Anzhi made history when they announced the 17million pound arrival of Eto'o from Inter Milan in 2011, handing him a whopping 350,000 pounds-a-week contract.
However, with the Russian club announcing that they are slashing their budget by 60 per cent this week, the 32-year-old has been told he must find a new club, the report said.
Italian sides Napoli and Genoa are already thought to have contacted Anzhi to discuss a deal, while his agent is keen to get him a transfer to the Premier League, the report added.
Magpies sporting director Joe Kinnear is yet to respond to the offer, but it's thought the transfer would involve a fee of around 5 million pounds while the Cameroon ace would take a significant drop in wages if he was to accept a switch to St James' Park, the report further said.
