PM Modi congratulates Shinzo Abe for wining new term in Japan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe for being re-elected despite low voter turnout.

"Congratulations Shinzo Abe on your victory in elections. Japan will scale newer heights of progress under your able leadership," tweeted Prime Minister Modi.

"I look forward to continuing to work closely with Shinzo Abe to strengthen the relations between India and Japan," his tweet added.

According to reports the Japanese Prime Minister backed the win despite low voter turnout.

Earlier in September this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his five-day visit to Japan, had held talks with Shinzo Abe, and had also met all sections of the Japanese society, including politicians, businessmen, students, researchers, priests and the Indian community.
