Prannoy surges ahead, Kashyap suffers upset at World Badminton C'ships

Indian ace shuttler H.S. Prannoy defeated Ugandan opponent Edwin Ekiring in their men's singles event to advance to the third round of the World Championships on Wednesday at Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 11th seed Indian overcame Ekiring 21-14, 21-19 in the second round clash that lasted over 39 minutes.

Meanwhile, 10th seed Parupalli Kashyap suffered a shocking 21-17, 13-21, 18-21 defeat against Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam in the second round.
