Rooney scores as Man U thump Ipswich 3-0 in Capital One Cup

Wayne Rooney ended his six-month goal scoring drought at home as Manchester United defeated Ipswich 3-0 to reach the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

The England captain put United ahead in the 22nd minute with a left-footed finish before 19-year-old Pereira doubled the lead on his first start for the club through a free-kick, the Daily Express reported.

Subsequently, Anthony Martial continued his goal scoring spree as he netted four goals since his arrival at Old Trafford.

United will next face Middlesbrough in the fourth round.
