A small town in the US, where Nirvana's late front man Kurt Cobain once lived briefly, have declared April 10, 2014 as 'Nirvana Day' - an official day to the grunge band.

Hoquiam, which neighbors Kurt Cobain's actual hometown, did this in celebration of the band's ascension into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Sky News reported.

The city with population of less than 10,000 people, is four miles down the road from Aberdeen, where the late singer spent much of his childhood and later teens.

Mayor Jack Durney told local radio station KXRO that Nirvana were their "sons" and deserved to be honored.
