The death toll following cloudbursts in Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts rose to 12 on Saturday morning, while 18 persons are still missing.
"We have recovered one more dead body and the numbers of deceased has mounted to nine in Pithoragarh district, as per the reports that we have got in the morning," Santosh Badoni, the deputy Director of State Disaster Management Centre told ANI.
Badoni also said that contrary to the predictions the rains have reduced in the areas which has facilitated the the rescue operations in the affected areas.
"The teams of SDRF, NDRF, Police, ITBP, BSF and army local unit are working in co-ordination to rescue the people," he said.
He further said 12 dead bodies have been recovered so far, adding that atleast 18 persons are missing in both the places.

Badoni also said that over 200 families have been affected due to the cloudbursts.
Meanwhile, four teams of the National Disaster Response Force, along with the Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police have been called in for rescue efforts after heavy rain in Uttarakhand triggered landslides and heavy rains.
Chief Minister Harish Rawat said he was "personally monitoring the situation" and also announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to families of victims.
