Youngsters in Vadodara recently painted walls in iconic spots of the city with the herbal colors to spread the message of cleanliness.
Celebrating Gujarat Foundation Day, a group of college-going students painted a 600-metre-long wall with slogans to inspire others to keep their surroundings clean.
Shreyansh Kayasth, a student, said they chose to use herbal colours over chemical ones to spread the message of a clean and green environment among people.
"If we had painted this wall with chemical colors, it would have looked better but would not have passed on the message of a clean environment. We wanted to pass on this message in Vadodra that herbal colors are made up of plants and trees. No chemicals are used in them. It's durability is great and it is good for eyes as well. That is why this wall is being painted with herbal colors," he said.
The youngsters also wielded brooms to clean their immediate surroundings.
The 'Swacch Bahrat Abhiyan', which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014, focuses on sanitation, hygiene and waste management.
It encourages people to sweep, remove garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places. The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' aims at making India a clean country by 019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
