Condoling the demise of eminent cartoonist R. K. Laxman, Vice President Hamid Ansari on Monday said he was deeply saddened at the former's passing away.
"I am deeply saddened at the passing away of Shri R. K. Laxman, the most eminent cartoonist of our country in recent times," said Vice President Ansari.
"Laxman, best known as the creator of the "common man" touched the lives of millions of our countrymen by his incisive humour and socially relevant messages expressed through his immensely popular cartoons," he added.
The Vice President conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
"I pray to the Almighty to give them strength and fortitude to bear with their loss," he added.

Creator of the iconic character "The Common Man", cartoonist R K Laxman passed away in a Pune hospital today.
The 94-year-old was on a mechanical ventilator last week with his health taking a turn for the worse on Sunday, according to reports.
