Australian share market ended down on Thursday, 14 January 2016, as risk aversion selloff resumed after yesterday logging a first gain in 2016, amid concern about a slump in China and a continued rout in commodity prices. All ASX industry groups declined, exception being bullion counter, with shares of energy, financial, technology, retailer and consumer goods issues being major losers. At the close, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index declined 78 points, or 1.56%, to 4909.40 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index dropped 77.50 points, or 1.54%, to 4964.10 points. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, fell 10% at 21.79, suggesting 6.2% swing in the equity benchmark index in the next 30 days.
