Auto shares slide
Auto stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Auto index falling 507.11 points or 2.81% at 17569.68 at 13:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (down 7.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (down 6.42%),Eicher Motors Ltd (down 4.49%),Tata Motors Ltd (down 3.08%),TVS Motor Company Ltd (down 2.15%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Exide Industries Ltd (down 2.06%), Cummins India Ltd (down 2.04%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd (down 2.03%), Apollo Tyres Ltd (down 1.74%), and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 1.55%).
On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries Ltd (up 0.45%), moved up.
At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 240.71 or 0.59% at 40901.14.
The Nifty 50 index was down 90.75 points or 0.75% at 12007.6.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 51.3 points or 0.35% at 14789.03.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 39.02 points or 0.76% at 5108.7.
On BSE,940 shares were trading in green, 1395 were trading in red and 174 were unchanged.
