Energy stocks edge higher

Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 68.02 points or 1.4% at 4929.87 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (up 2.79%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.67%),Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 1.39%),Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 1.08%),Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 0.95%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.84%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 0.82%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.78%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.73%), and Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 0.6%).

On the other hand, Oil India Ltd (down 2.65%), Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 0.99%), and Aban Offshore Ltd (down 0.95%) turned lower.

 

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 429.05 or 1.05% at 41408.67.

The Nifty 50 index was up 127.7 points or 1.06% at 12159.2.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 87.8 points or 0.59% at 14864.13.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 26.15 points or 0.51% at 5138.7.

On BSE,1092 shares were trading in green, 449 were trading in red and 60 were unchanged.
