Energy stocks edge higher

Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 58.43 points or 1.17% at 5040.7 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Castrol India Ltd (up 1.88%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 1.52%),Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.36%),Adani Gas Ltd (up 1.15%),Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 1.13%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.99%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.95%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.91%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.69%), and Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 0.65%).

On the other hand, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.1%), and Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 0.29%) turned lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 286.53 or 0.7% at 41253.39.

The Nifty 50 index was up 87.85 points or 0.73% at 12143.65.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 70.81 points or 0.48% at 14893.09.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 30.56 points or 0.6% at 5115.75.

On BSE,998 shares were trading in green, 320 were trading in red and 48 were unchanged.
