Energy stocks rise
Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 52.7 points or 1.09% at 4902.5 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 5.16%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (up 4.93%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 3.18%),Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 2.49%),Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 2.19%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.84%), Castrol India Ltd (up 1.61%), Oil India Ltd (up 1.36%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 1.23%), and Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 1.11%).
On the other hand, Adani Gas Ltd (down 0.89%), Aban Offshore Ltd (down 0.78%), and Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 0.54%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 98.09 or 0.25% at 38604.18.
The Nifty 50 index was up 43.45 points or 0.38% at 11471.75.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 78.53 points or 0.61% at 12852.14.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.43 points or 0.54% at 4377.88.
On BSE,854 shares were trading in green, 484 were trading in red and 79 were unchanged.
