Energy shares gain

Energy stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 23.74 points or 0.5% at 4777.85 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 5.95%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 5.81%),Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 4.48%),Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 4.33%),Adani Gas Ltd (up 4.07%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 4.04%), Aban Offshore Ltd (up 2.5%), Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (up 1.46%), Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.87%), and Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 0.83%).

On the other hand, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 5%), Coal India Ltd (down 2.2%), and Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 1.88%) moved lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 18.64 or 0.05% at 38685.97.

The Nifty 50 index was up 24.05 points or 0.21% at 11498.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 12.98 points or 0.1% at 13157.78.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 5.41 points or 0.12% at 4428.12.

On BSE,789 shares were trading in green, 630 were trading in red and 69 were unchanged.
