Energy stocks rise
Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 26.8 points or 0.52% at 5172.2 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.08%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 1.27%),Coal India Ltd (up 1.02%),Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.74%),Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 0.49%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.42%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (up 0.36%), Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 0.29%), and Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 0.17%).
On the other hand, Castrol India Ltd (down 2.21%), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 2.16%), and Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 2.02%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 22.05 or 0.05% at 41506.86.
The Nifty 50 index was down 4.85 points or 0.04% at 12219.7.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 14.14 points or 0.1% at 14665.31.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 4.08 points or 0.08% at 5025.54.
On BSE,709 shares were trading in green, 718 were trading in red and 76 were unchanged.
