Energy stocks rise
Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 68.55 points or 1.8% at 3887.49 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Aban Offshore Ltd (up 5%), Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.98%),Panama Petrochem Ltd (up 4.89%),Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 3.82%),Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 2.64%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.2%), Oil India Ltd (up 1.98%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.89%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 1.69%), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.67%).
On the other hand, Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 2.18%), Petronet LNG Ltd (down 0.95%), and Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 0.46%) turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 156.77 or 0.52% at 30223.04.
The Nifty 50 index was down 25.05 points or 0.28% at 8900.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 67.34 points or 0.65% at 10433.87.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 16.38 points or 0.45% at 3676.78.
On BSE,999 shares were trading in green, 459 were trading in red and 53 were unchanged.
