Financials stocks edge lower

Financials stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Finance index decreasing 135.94 points or 3.29% at 3999.52 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Finance index, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd (down 7.45%), Equitas Holdings Ltd (down 7.42%),Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd (down 6.71%),Bajaj Finserv Ltd (down 6.48%),Federal Bank Ltd (down 5.59%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd (down 5.56%), Ujjivan Financial Services Ltd (down 5.49%), Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Ltd (down 5.2%), Bajaj Finance Ltd (down 5.1%), and DCB Bank Ltd (down 5.1%).

 

On the other hand, PNB Gilts Ltd (up 4.24%), Centrum Capital Ltd (up 4.16%), and CARE Ratings Ltd (up 2.59%) turned up.

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 309.46 or 1% at 30623.44.

The Nifty 50 index was down 86.05 points or 0.94% at 9020.2.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 38.94 points or 0.37% at 10509.19.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 20.46 points or 0.55% at 3721.59.

On BSE,783 shares were trading in green, 1305 were trading in red and 153 were unchanged.
