FMCG stocks edge lower

FMCG stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index decreasing 168.18 points or 1.65% at 10043.59 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index, ITC Ltd (down 6.44%), Associated Alcohols & Breweries Ltd (down 6.28%),G M Breweries Ltd (down 5.58%),Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd (down 4.96%),Future Consumer Ltd (down 4.91%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Mcleod Russel India Ltd (down 4.29%), S H Kelkar & Company Ltd (down 4.19%), Globus Spirits Ltd (down 4.17%), Emami Ltd (down 3.34%), and Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd (down 2.56%).

On the other hand, Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd (up 4.98%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd (up 4.98%), and Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries Ltd (up 4.98%) turned up.

 

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 338.32 or 1.08% at 31791.83.

The Nifty 50 index was up 111.7 points or 1.21% at 9317.3.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 70.65 points or 0.66% at 10720.26.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 40.63 points or 1.08% at 3791.36.

On BSE,998 shares were trading in green, 1141 were trading in red and 159 were unchanged.
