Metal shares edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 71.58 points or 0.74% at 9683.44 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.48%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.18%),Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.09%),NMDC Ltd (up 1.04%),Vedanta Ltd (up 0.86%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 0.52%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.35%).

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.34%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 0.26%), and Tata Steel Ltd (down 0.04%) moved lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 197.79 or 0.48% at 41019.09.

The Nifty 50 index was up 55.25 points or 0.46% at 12092.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 36.06 points or 0.27% at 13447.39.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 11.93 points or 0.26% at 4689.04.

On BSE,859 shares were trading in green, 531 were trading in red and 82 were unchanged.
