Metal shares gain
Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 110.8 points or 1.19% at 9454.42 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 2.02%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 1.83%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.45%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.42%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.32%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.3%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.24%), NMDC Ltd (up 0.54%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.51%).
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 209.07 or 0.52% at 40621.64.
The Nifty 50 index was up 56.95 points or 0.48% at 11967.1.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 77.04 points or 0.59% at 13223.65.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 30.83 points or 0.67% at 4665.88.
On BSE,917 shares were trading in green, 393 were trading in red and 74 were unchanged.
