Power stocks edge higher

Power stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Power index increasing 22.87 points or 1.19% at 1940.11 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Power index, Adani Transmission Ltd (up 3.97%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 2.91%),Siemens Ltd (up 1.53%),Adani Power Ltd (up 1.48%),NTPC Ltd (up 1.43%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Thermax Ltd (up 0.55%), K E C International Ltd (up 0.21%), JSW Energy Ltd (up 0.15%), and Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd (up 0.13%).

On the other hand, Tata Power Company Ltd (down 3.17%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (down 1.25%), and NHPC Ltd (down 0.87%) turned lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 309.3 or 0.79% at 38787.84.

The Nifty 50 index was down 92.1 points or 0.79% at 11496.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 69.63 points or 0.51% at 13518.57.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 30.63 points or 0.67% at 4523.43.

On BSE,537 shares were trading in green, 941 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
