Power stocks surge
Power stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Power index increasing 10.1 points or 0.53% at 1902.99 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Power index, Adani Transmission Ltd (up 1.77%), Tata Power Company Ltd (up 1.08%),NHPC Ltd (up 0.84%),Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd (up 0.78%),NTPC Ltd (up 0.7%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Siemens Ltd (up 0.67%), Adani Power Ltd (up 0.41%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 0.22%), CESC Ltd (up 0.2%), and Torrent Power Ltd (up 0.07%).
On the other hand, K E C International Ltd (down 0.51%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (down 0.11%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 28.25 or 0.07% at 41670.91.
The Nifty 50 index was up 15.35 points or 0.13% at 12278.1.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 40.43 points or 0.3% at 13422.46.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 8.57 points or 0.18% at 4708.39.
On BSE,869 shares were trading in green, 520 were trading in red and 80 were unchanged.
