Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index declines 2.49%

Nifty Metal index ended down 2.49% at 2642.25 today. The index is down 4.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Vedanta Ltd shed 4.47%, Tata Steel Ltd dropped 3.50% and Steel Authority of India Ltd slipped 3.49%. The Nifty Metal index is down 7.00% over last one year compared to the 13.08% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Auto index is down 1.24% and Nifty Infrastructure index has dropped 1.19% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 has dropped 0.52% to close at 12055.8 while the SENSEX has dropped 0.42% to close at 40982.41 today.
