Quick Wrap: Nifty PSU Bank Index rises 2.47%

Nifty PSU Bank index closed up 2.47% at 2846.95 today. The index is up 5.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Union Bank of India gained 8.75%, Canara Bank rose 7.58% and Indian Bank jumped 6.32%. The Nifty PSU Bank index is down 26.00% over last one year compared to the 1.59% decline in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Energy index is down 2.18% and Nifty Media index gained 1.73% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 has slid 0.51% to close at 10198.4 while the SENSEX is down 0.52% to close at 33891.13 today.
