Telecom shares rise

Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 7.67 points or 0.86% at 895.95 at 09:50 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.96%), GTPL Hathway Ltd (up 1.32%),Tejas Networks Ltd (up 1.1%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 1.03%),Tata Communications Ltd (up 1%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1%), ITI Ltd (up 0.59%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.46%).

On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.82%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.77%), and Aksh Optifibre Ltd (down 2.67%) moved lower.

At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 51.12 or 0.14% at 36511.79.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 17.35 points or 0.16% at 10780.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 15.84 points or 0.13% at 12353.98.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 9.8 points or 0.23% at 4175.55.

On BSE,632 shares were trading in green, 657 were trading in red and 74 were unchanged.
