Telecom shares fall

Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 18.35 points or 2% at 898.66 at 13:45 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.17%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.69%),Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 3.05%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2.46%),Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (down 2.25%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were ITI Ltd (down 1.95%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 1.53%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 1.05%), GTPL Hathway Ltd (down 0.43%), and Aksh Optifibre Ltd (down 0.33%).

On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.55%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.44%), and Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 2.6%) moved up.

 

At 13:45 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 466.83 or 1.26% at 36656.48.

The Nifty 50 index was down 133.15 points or 1.21% at 10870.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 115.54 points or 0.88% at 12980.52.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 36.51 points or 0.84% at 4295.93.

On BSE,854 shares were trading in green, 1441 were trading in red and 152 were unchanged.
