Telecom stocks edge lower
Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 29.14 points or 2.47% at 1150.85 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.55%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 3.69%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 3.5%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.08%), ITI Ltd (up 0.3%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 0.14%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 5.97%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 5%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 4.41%) turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 277.27 or 0.88% at 31408.48.
The Nifty 50 index was down 73.75 points or 0.8% at 9197.15.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 8.69 points or 0.08% at 10692.62.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 9.84 points or 0.26% at 3771.57.
On BSE,1025 shares were trading in green, 1111 were trading in red and 155 were unchanged.
