Telecom stocks rise
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 8.45 points or 0.8% at 1061.19 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.94%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.91%),ITI Ltd (up 2.43%),HFCL Ltd (up 1.17%),Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.09%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.91%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.8%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 0.74%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.71%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.65%).
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.44%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.3%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 231.79 or 0.57% at 41170.51.
The Nifty 50 index was up 55.85 points or 0.46% at 12109.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 59.8 points or 0.45% at 13365.59.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 15.16 points or 0.32% at 4702.63.
On BSE,934 shares were trading in green, 429 were trading in red and 75 were unchanged.
