Telecom shares rise

Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 8.66 points or 0.82% at 1060.58 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 4.79%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.44%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 3.06%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.96%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.5%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.16%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 0.44%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 0.22%) moved lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 21.54 or 0.05% at 41042.15.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 11.4 points or 0.09% at 12112.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 21.92 points or 0.16% at 13459.4.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 10.47 points or 0.22% at 4716.84.

On BSE,779 shares were trading in green, 603 were trading in red and 93 were unchanged.
