UB group stocks rallied on renewed buying. United Spirits spurted 6.51% to Rs 2,620.65 and topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. United Breweries jumped 6.17% to Rs 874.35 and was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Videocon Industries surged 6.33% to Rs 180.65 and was second biggest gainer in 'A' group. BPCL advanced 6.07% to Rs 328.55 and was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group. Videocon Industries announced during trading hours today, 27 September 2013, that Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras and IBV Brasil, a 50-50 joint venture between BPCL and Videocon Industries, have determined that "SEAL-11" exploration block contains very large amounts of high-quality light crude oil and natural gas. The SEAL-11 block and adjacent areas, 100 kilometers off the coast of the Brazilian state of Sergipe, may hold more than 3 billion barrels of oil in place, according to reports. If confirmed, that would make the block -- owned 60% by Petrobras and 40% owned by IBV -- one of the biggest global discoveries of the year.
MRF rose 5.16% to Rs 13,457.90 and was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The stock rose on volume of 11,580 shares, higher than an average volume of 3,557 shares in the past one quarter.
