Utilties shares gain

Utilties stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Utilities index rising 14.33 points or 0.8% at 1803.6 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (up 7.55%), Rattanindia Power Ltd (up 4.71%),Adani Power Ltd (up 2.52%),Adani Transmission Ltd (up 2.52%),Tata Power Company Ltd (up 2.21%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were JSW Energy Ltd (up 2.21%), GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.05%), Torrent Power Ltd (up 1.52%), CESC Ltd (up 1.34%), and GAIL (India) Ltd (up 1.23%).

On the other hand, Reliance Power Ltd (down 4.47%), Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (down 1.25%), and Indian Energy Exchange Ltd (down 0.69%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 204.67 or 0.5% at 40925.5.

The Nifty 50 index was down 34.75 points or 0.29% at 12116.4.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 85.95 points or 0.64% at 13583.31.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 27.59 points or 0.58% at 4776.14.

On BSE,921 shares were trading in green, 530 were trading in red and 61 were unchanged.
