Power shares surge

Power stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Power index rising 26.9 points or 1.41% at 1940.05 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Power index, NTPC Ltd (up 3.43%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 2.38%), Tata Power Company Ltd (up 1.64%), Adani Transmission Ltd (up 1.25%), Adani Power Ltd (up 0.24%), and NHPC Ltd (up 0.21%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.91%), Siemens Ltd (down 2.31%), and ABB India Ltd (down 1.29%) moved lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 102.97 or 0.25% at 40472.2.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 24.05 points or 0.2% at 11944.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 10.48 points or 0.08% at 13346.64.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 13.06 points or 0.28% at 4652.15.

On BSE,732 shares were trading in green, 721 were trading in red and 84 were unchanged.
