Utilties stocks gain
Utilties stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Utilities index increasing 9.64 points or 0.54% at 1799.32 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, PTC India Ltd (up 5.24%), Adani Transmission Ltd (up 3.97%),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 2.91%),GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.34%),Adani Power Ltd (up 1.48%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were NTPC Ltd (up 1.43%), Nava Bharat Ventures Ltd (up 1.19%), CESC Ltd (up 0.28%), and JSW Energy Ltd (up 0.15%).
On the other hand, Tata Power Company Ltd (down 3.17%), GE T&D India Ltd (down 2.68%), and Rattanindia Power Ltd (down 2.53%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 309.3 or 0.79% at 38787.84.
The Nifty 50 index was down 92.1 points or 0.79% at 11496.1.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 69.63 points or 0.51% at 13518.57.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 30.63 points or 0.67% at 4523.43.
On BSE,537 shares were trading in green, 941 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
